Citrus Lane October 2012 – Fall Fun

I received my Citrus Lane box yesterday and received a “just shipped” email from them today. Ha ha. How funny is that?  I was pleasantly surprised to see the box waiting for me when I got home yesterday.  Yippee.  Sadly, this will be the last month of my 3-month subscription.  I love Citrus Lane dearly but it gets to be a little pricey after a while.  Wahh.  I’m sad about it but there’s not much I can do about it.  😦

I was ecstatic when I received my first Citrus Lane box from August and I was only slightly pleased from September‘s box so I was hoping this box would be great.  Hoping to go out with a big bang!  And I wished just right.  I LOVED this box.  Almost enough for me to renew but I cannot.  I cancelled first thing this morning. Boohoo.

This month’s theme is Fall Fun.

How fitting is that?  I’m not sure how the products fall (hah, pun not intended) under Fall Fun but that’s OK!

The last time I’ll see this box…for now.

Fall Fun!

Packing List – I peered at this first before opening the box.
I was only expecting one cup. I was really surprised to see two!

All the loot underneath the tissue paper! Wow!

1.  BabyGanics Healin’ Groovy Protective Ointment – It soothes diaper rash and I’m sure it’ll work with other type of rashes and/or dry skin problems.  I can totally use this since BB always has some kind of rash.  Listed at $7.99 however I can find the same tube at Babies R Us for $5.99.

2.  DHC Deep Cleansing Oil Mini – I’ve seen this product before but I’ve never used it. It’s supposed to be great at cleaning your face.  Can’t wait to try it! Listed at $4.99 but it’s $5.50 on the DHC website.

3.  Bright Starts – License to Drool – How cute is this?  BB has started gnoshing on everything he can his mouth on. This will be a great addition to our collection. I like how easily I can connect this to a binky holder, too.  Listed as $2.99.  Amazon lists the girly colored one at $2.99 but the one above is a little over $5.

4.  Munchkin 7 oz Click Lock Trainer Cups –  How convenient is this?  Just this weekend, I was saying to Meanie that I needed to start weaning BB off of a bottle and to a cup!  Citrus Lane must have been eavesdropping. 🙂 I was definitely surprised to see a 2-pack in the box, too.  This is why I love Citrus Lane!  They are spill-proof, have a click-lock and free of all that icky stuff, like BPA.  It’s got pretty good reviews on Amazon so I’m hoping BB takes to these cups.  I’ve tried a TON of sippy/straw cups.  It really depends on the individual if they like it or not.  Wish us luck!  Listed as $8.99 for a 2-pack but Amazon has it at $7.49 for a 2-pack.

5.  Ella’s Kitchen Cheesy Potatoes – Ella’s Kitchen is great! I’ve been feeding BB a lot of pouch baby food especially when I can’t find the time to make homemade baby purees on the weekend.  This is a flavor I haven’t seen yet. I’m sure he’ll love it. It sounds pretty yummy to me!  Listed at $2.49.

6.  In My Den from Chronicle Books, By Sara Gillingham, Illustrated by Lorena Siminovich – This book is so adorable.  This will be a great addition to our already huge collection.  The bear in the middle is actually a finger puppet so it’ll be fun for BB (and CB).  I’m sure CB will find this book in no time and will ask us to read it to him.  Listed at $8.99.

So that’s it – my very last Citrus Lane box.  I placed this on BB’s wishlist so who knows, maybe he’ll get another one in the near future.  I wish they had these boxes for kids older than 3.  There are other subscription boxes out there that are catered to older children so I’ll keep those in mind till later.

I really recommend getting a subscription to Citrus Lane or even to send it out as a gift.  There’s even a special baby shower box which seems very perfect.  I will definitely keep this in mind for the next baby present.

The only other baby subscription box I had was Bluum and Citrus Lane totally trumps Bluum.  Don’t forget that Citrus Lane also costs about double of Bluum’s sample box, too, so really, you get what you pay for.  If you’re into getting those tiny little samples (they annoy me personally), then go for the lesser priced Bluum.  They used to be good but I was getting disappointed repetitively for a while so I finally cancelled and went with Citrus Lane. I was never disappointed with Citrus Lane and I’m sad to end my subscription.

OH! If you guys are interested in starting a subscription with Citrus Lane, please click on my link below so that I can get some credits.  *grovel*  Hee hee.  Also, if you click on the link, there’s a slight discount:

Conscious Box Review – October 2012

Wheeee, I received my first Conscious Box on Friday!  To those who are not familiar with Conscious Box, it is a monthly subscription box that’s sent to your door.  It costs $12/month plus you need to pay for shipping which costs $7.95 so it’s about $19.95 a month.  You can also purchase 3-month subscriptions (total $56.85) or a 6-month subscription (total $111.60) That’s not too bad considering the amount of stuff you get in the boxes.  I hopped on an offer Plum District was offering and purchased a 3-month subscription for only $14 because I had a coupon, too.  Click here to read all about it.

There are two kinds of boxes – The Classic box and now there’s a Vegan box available.

Signing up for Conscious Box is very easy.  You just click onto whatever subscription you’re interested in (single box, 3-month subscription or 6-month subscription) and then you’re in the PayPal page where you just pay right then and there.  No need to create an account with them or anything like that. I was a little worried about that because I couldn’t log in to the account to see when a box was coming.  People have mentioned they get an email with a tracking number with it but I never received one.  I do know a box is supposed to arrive by the 15th of every month though so that was good to know.  Imagine my surprise when I found the box in my mailbox on Friday evening!  Yay!

I’ve heard a lot of raves about the Conscious Box and how people are always happy with their subscription.  According to Subscription Boxes, Conscious Box is the most top-rated box right now out there.  Conscious Box is a little more unique compared to other subscription boxes available now since all of the products they send out are all eco-friendly, which is a big plus!  I was a little reluctant to jump on this because of the price tag and I already have a subscription with Citrus Lane but I couldn’t pass up on the offer through Plum District (it’s not available anymore).  I was also a little reluctant because it’s an eco-friendly box.  I don’t consider myself as a totally green person. Maybe here and there but I’d like to improve on that.  So I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like the products in the box.  I was worrying for nothing!

I opened my box on Friday evening, after the kiddies have gone to bed so I haven’t shared the goods yet.  I’m tempted to hoard these goodies but I’d be a bad Mama Bear if I didn’t share!

The box itself seemed a little small to me. I always pictured it to be a little bigger. It really doesn’t matter though since it was packed to the max!  The box had 11 items total, plus coupons!  I heard Conscious Box stopped enclosing a packing list in their boxes but now it’s online. Click here for the list.  I haven’t ripped into the goodies yet so I don’t have a review for the munchies yet. They look good, though!

Here are my pictures.  I apologize in advance if some are blurry.

The box that was sitting in my mailbox.

What I saw when I opened the box.
A welcome note from Conscious Box. 🙂

The other side of the card – it gives you some ideas to re-use the box.
I would probably use mine to hold some of CB’s crayons or something.
I would even re-use the box for gifts!

The actual box where all the goodies are hidden inside.
It looks so pretty!

What I see when I open the pretty box.
Everything is packed so neatly!

The theme of the box – Autumn, Halloween, October!

A closer look at the pretty postcard included, on top of the hidden goodies below.

First exposed goodie – RW Garcia Dippers
3 Seed Curry & Mango chips.
Sounds good but haven’t tried yet.
They say these chips go very well with avocados.
I’ll have to get some next week to try these chips to the fullest!

These look good.  I’ve only tried one thing from a past Bluum box.
They are:  Clandestino – Banana Bar (the packaging looks really hip!);
Larabar – I see these everywhere but haven’t tried yet.
Bumble Bar Organic Sesame – I’ve tried this before. It’s very tasty!
Crum Creek – Soy Nut Mix – I actually received this in my Book Lovers Cravebox. Haven’t tried it yet though.

VitaRocks – Vitamins that are just like Pop Rocks!  They’re for kids but I want to try it too! 🙂
Yummy Earth Organic lollipop – I am very familiar with these since I was noshing on them while preggers.
They’re very good!  I actually bought them in bulk from Amazon and passed them out for Halloween and included them in CB’s birthday goodie bags.  My MIL also loves these!
Teatulia – I love tea! Looking forward to trying this.
Zarbees – cough syrup for kids.  This is great because CB often catches a bad cough from daycare and he’s too young for other meds.  I’ll be sure to try this out this winter to see how it goes.

Pretty postcard
GoodLight Natural Candles – I love candles!
I just haven’ t lit them in a while because I have gremlins munchkins running around.
Geo Deo Island Natural Deodorant – This is great.  No, really, I’m serious. I’ve been looking around for something like this.  In fact, I already bought some in bulk from Amazon (Gah) but a different brand.
I just started using both products over the weekend and so far, I’m pretty happy with both!
I’m not sure how effective they would be in the summer (Me = sweaty pig = oink) but for right now, it is effective and my armpits don’t feel gunked up with crap, which is the last thing I need.
Geo Deo Island has a nice pleasant smell, which is not too overpowering.
Something on me smells really nice but I’m not sure if it’s the the deodorant or the new shampoo I’ve been using that SheSpeaks sent me – Clear Shampoo and Conditioner.

Whatever it is, I smell awesome, like flowers!  🙂

Coupons and stuff.

There it is, all the contents in my box.  I’m not sure how much all of this costs but I’m pretty sure it’s more than $12.61/month (how much I paid for my subscription with the Plum District Offer and $5 coupon I had).  I was so pleased with this box that I actually jumped on the Super Mystical Magical Mystery Conscious Box for only $19.95 (shipping included).  Honestly, I’ve been eyeing this box for a while but wasn’t sure I wanted to.  Right after I opened my October box, I jumped on that Super Mystical Magical Mystery Conscious Box.  I mean, how could I not, with a name like that?  LOL  It’s still available if any of you are interested in it. I hear all the boxes are different so no box is going to be the same.  They should be shipping soon so I’ll be looking forward to receiving it.

My verdict?  Two thumbs up!

BzzAgent Review – Glade Expressions Collection

[Note:  I am a member of BzzAgent and received a BzzKit containing coupons for discount and for free items.  This review is written by me and was not compensated in any way to give my honest opinion.]

I was excited to be invited to the Glade Expressions Collection campaign for BzzAgent.  If none of you are familiar with BzzAgent, BzzAgent is a word-of-mouth community where you join campaigns for different products or services, depending if you qualify to be part of the target group.  I was mailed a BzzKit from BzzAgent containing information about the Glade Expressions Collection along with a book of coupons to share and coupons for myself so I could try out these products for free.  I did some research about this collection and was very interested in the Pineapple & Mangosteen scent but unfortunately, my local grocery didn’t carry this one.

So I got the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice Fragrance Mist and the Oil Diffuser starter kit in Lavender & Juniper Berry.  I mostly picked out this scent because of the color.  I love purple!

The description for the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice scent is described as:

Enliven your senses with a spicy concoction of sweet pears, crisp apples and a dash of cinnamon and clove. Transform your home with fragrance.”

Lavender and Juniper Berry is described as:

Relax your senses with the fresh fragrance of lush lavender and juniper berry, eucalyptus and rose. This fragrance will lift your spirits and create a tranquil oasis in every home.”

I placed the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice spray in my main bathroom on the second floor and put the Lavender & Juniper Berry Oil Diffuser in my bathroom downstairs, where the foyer and front door are.  It’s a very welcoming scent when you come into the house!  The Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice scent is very festive. It smells just like Christmas and I love it! This is the perfect time of the year to make my home smelling like this.  We absolutely love it.  I’ve seen Meanie spraying it here and there because he loves the scent so much, too.

I totally love how the Fragrance Spray is refillable so I don’t have to throw out the whole spray but just get a replacement scent.  The Oil Diffuser is very cute and very easy to put together.  I love these products so much that I want to go back to the store and get every other scent and put one in every room!  But that’s overkill.  I am still using the ones I got so they are long lasting.  They do say you need to replace the Oil Diffuser every 30 days (about a month) but I haven’t noticed a decline in the scents.

What’s also great is that it’s NOT overpowering!  That was my biggest fear, especially since I have two young children in the house.  My mother is over on the weekdays to take care of BB and she has a very sensitive nose and cannot handle most air fresheners.  She did not complain about these scents, much to my surprise!  🙂

This whole collection is great and I praise them a lot. I’ve only tried 2 scents out of the 4 total and I’m pretty happy with the two I got.  I have read reviews of the Pineapple & Mangosteen scent and some people have complained that it’s too sweet and overpowering so maybe I chose correctly.  I really love the colors they use – they’re really attractive and look very nice in the house.

Let me know if any of you are interested in some coupons! 🙂

Think Thin

“Satisfy your sweet tooth with the rich flavors of brownie and almond pieces
covered in delicious dark chocolate.
Packed with 20 grams of protein and zero grams sugar,
this gluten free bar helps support your weight loss and energy goals.”

I received a ThinKThin Brownie Crunch protein bar (clever name!) from one of my Cravebox‘es.  This one, to be exact.  Honestly, I was scared to try it.  Another protein bar in a chocolate flavor?  How ghastly can it be?  I’ve eaten my share of protein bars. Some good, some bad but I always get sick of it.  I’ve been unusually hungry the last few days – getting ready for hibernation since it’s getting colder, I dunno.  Started working out?  (kinda, but it’s better than nothing)  I’m not exactly sure why.  I’ve near exhausted my food supply (food I bring from home because food prices around my office are frightening in a bad way) and I found this lurking underneath a big pile of junk I didn’t feel like chomping on.  I might as well, since I’m still hungry….

And it’s pretty damn good!  This would be a great chocolate fix without all the added calories and sugar.  I just ate half and I’m full and want to go to sleep. Ha ha.

I’m stuck at work today.  I have no sick/vacation days left because my maternity leave earlier this year depleted most of my supply.  Ugh. It’s gotta be the slowest day ever and I have work, which makes it worse.

I received my flu shot on Friday and I’ve been feeling really tired and lethargic since then.  I had 7 hours of sleep on Friday night and I should feel really refreshed because that’s a lot of sleep for me these days but I was so so so tired.  I’m still tired today because BB was acting up last night.  Zzzz…

Happy Columbus Day! My boss just told me that you’re supposed to wear red on Columbus Day. I had no idea.  Did anyone know that?  LOL

Meanie is at home with CB and they went to have fun somewhere.  He dropped BB off at my parents’ place.  BB has been acting very peculiar lately, in a bad way.  He must be stuck on me, like white on rice, 24/7.  I know, it’s the dreaded separation anxiety. It’s here and it’s here to stay. 😦 He screams bloody murder when I put him to bed in his crib now.  😦 We were so desperate for sleep we even tried co-sleeping but he wouldn’t have it.  Phew!  What he REALLY wanted was for me to bring him to the guest room (where we hung out in those days when he was a wee newborn and sleep with him there; and how we nap on the weekends).   I really hope this doesn’t become a nightly thing!

So I’m exhausted.  And I just got a bunch of work.  *sigh* 😦

————————————————————

This was how it used to be for BB and me:

Back in the day when he would sleep in his bouncer next to me.  Back in the day when he was this tiny!  He’s ginormous now!  He still fits in that bouncer but his feet hangover the edge.  🙂  These days, I just make a little pen for him on top of the bed with pillows (so he can’t roll over them and topple to the ground) and I sleep horizontally, next to his “pen”.
