BzzAgent Review – BURT’S BEES® INTENSE HYDRATION

[I am a BzzAgent and I was sent free products to give my review.  I was not compensated in any way for my honesty]

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Burt’s Bees Campaign for their new product – Intense Hydration for the face.  I have always heard of Burt’s Bees and have heard of all the raves it’s gotten from their line of products but for some reason, I never got around to trying them out.  This was a perfect opportunity for me!  I am a Burt’s Bee virgin and thanks to BzzAgent for letting me try out their products!

I love the fact that all of the products are 100% natural and their packaging is also very good to the environment.  None of that icky stuff with ridiculously complicated names on your skin.  They also have a huge line of products for everything, including babies!  Good to know!  I perused the website and now I want one of everything on the site.  🙂

This is the model they work by:

Good for you — Natural products that nourish your skin, body and well-being

Good for us — Company practices that create a thriving, sustainable business

Good for all — Being pioneers of sensible practices that benefit the world and being good neighbors too

This is like 3 pluses in a row!

Ok, back to the Intense Hydration line.  This is great for dry skin.  The main ingredient used in this line is Clary Sage.  Apparently after some research, they discovered that this plant was able to retain moisture especially since it thrived in dry climate in the Mediterranean.  The Intense Hydration is a facial line and there are 5 products in the line:

Here’s the BzzKit un-veiling:

What I saw when I opened my BzzKit

I was ecstatic to find full sized products in my box!
My BzzKit contained the Cream Cleanser, Night Cream and Treatment Mask,
along with an information booklet and a bunch of samples and coupons I can share with my friends!

These cute little samples are of the Day Lotion and Night Cream.
I shared these with my friends and family!

I jumped on this campaign because winter is here.  My skin tends to get dry in the winter (I’m sure for most of you, too!) from the harsh winds and the dryness from the heat in the house and other places.  Just so you know, my skin wasn’t super dry at the start of this campaign.  As days went by, some days I felt my skin was starting to feel tight and just a little dryer than normal.  I’ve been using the Cream Cleanser almost every day for the past couple of weeks and I feel that my skin has gotten much softer since the start of this campaign.  I haven’t been using the Night Cream or Hydration Mask daily (it’s recommended to use this 1-2x a week) but I’ve used them sporadically.  I think it’s because the Cream Cleanser is doing such a great job at hydrating my skin!

The scent of the products may be a little too strong at first.  I wasn’t sure if I liked the smell in the beginning but I’ve grown to love it.  It’s very different from other smells and it takes time to get used to but I think it smells great!

In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Intense Hydration line of Burt’s Bees products to anyone who has experienced dry skin.  This will surely make your face nice and soft. It surely has to mine!  If you don’t suffer from dry skin, do make sure you check out their whole line of products. I’m sure you can find something that would be a correct fit for you.  So uhh…don’t be surprised if you find Burt’s Bees products in your Xmas gifts from me this year! 🙂

BzzAgent Review – Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade

Omigoodness.  I am so freaking full and food coma is slowly coming to take up residence.  How will I stay up especially since I’m at work?  My firm had its annual Thanksgiving luncheon today and I am stuffed!  Zzzzzz…..

I know, I should drink coffee!  Speaking of coffee, I need to review the Green Mountain Coffee Bzzcampaign from BzzAgent! 🙂  [Yeah, you knew that was coming, huh? =P]  All this turkey day food has made me into a crazy and raving lunatic.. Gah.

I jumped on the Green Mountain Coffee BzzCampaign a few weeks ago via BzzAgent.  BzzAgent is a word-of-mouth marketing program where BzzAgents (you can sign up for free!) join campaigns for products or services and just spread the word about it to everyone.

I am very familiar with Green Mountain coffee since my firm has a Keurig brewer on each floor and I drink Green Mountain coffee at work.  I don’t own a Keurig brewer at home and for some reason, I thought the BzzKit would contain either ground coffee bags or coffee beans, not K-cups. Doh!  What I was really hoping was winning a chance to host the Keurig House Party and get a Keurig brewer of my own but I was not so lucky. 😦

Here are some pics of my BzzKit!

Box opening

I got a bunch of coupons that I could share with people, a BzzGuide informing me about the Fair Trade Coffee and 3 little kits of K-cups.  Totally cute!

These square boxes contain 4 flavors –
Sumatran Reserve (Extra Bold)
Wild Mountain Blueberry
Colombian Fair Trade Select
Vermont Country Blend

The only one I haven’t tried was the Sumatran Reserve.  Good thing I have a Keurig brewer at work and so that’s how I was able to try these K-cups out.  Sumatran Reserve was definitely a really bold tasting coffee. I really liked it!

I regularly drink the Colombian Fair Trade Select at work (4 oz of that and 4 oz of Hazelnut Green Mountain coffee, yum!) and Vermont Country Blend.

Every month, we have a new and different flavor to try.  I have tried the Wild Mountain Blueberry flavor. Actually when I first saw that it was available, I was a little scared. Blueberry coffee?  That’s weird.  However, I do like blueberries so I tried it and I love it! That is my favorite flavor!! It’s so good!

Closer look at the K-cups.

The BzzGuide also had more information regarding Fair Trade.  Not only the coffee is awesome, organic and tastes great, the farmers also benefit from being Fair Trade:

  • Helps farmers get a fair price for their beans
  • Improves working conditions
  • Assists in protecting the environment
  • Supports community development with projects resulting in new schools, roads, health clinics and safer drinking water

Two musicians, Grace Potter and Michael Franti, joined Green Mountain Coffee in a campaign to raise awareness to Fair Trade and celebrate Fair Trade Month in October. Their campaign is named “Great Coffee, Good Vibes, Pass it On”. Please go to Green Mountain Coffee’s Facebook page so you can see exclusive videos of their travels to Colombia and Sumatra where they met the farmers and their families.

There are plenty of other flavors available, too. Currently, the flavor of the month here is Pumpkin Spice. I swear, everyone goes nuts for this flavor. If you like the pumpkin flavor, you’ll love this. It’s so good, I think people hoard the K-cups for later on.  I know someone who will actually ask the pantry for the leftover Pumpkin Spice K-cups! LOL

I was also peering through the Green Mountain website and they have a huge variety of K-cups for coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc.  I wish I had a Keurig brewer!  It’s so cool and convenient!

So there you have it.  I’ve always did like Green Mountain Coffee. I’ve learned more information regarding Fair Trade and how beneficial it is to farmers and everyone.  So go out and get your Fair Trade coffee!

[I received free samples and coupons from BzzAgent to review and give my opinion. I was not compensated in anyway to provide my honest opinion.]

Product Review – SheSpeaks

This post is long overdue. My apologies!

I joined SheSpeaks over the summer because I was looking into more websites that were similar to BzzAgent.  I like the idea of trying out new products and spreading the word.  I was doing that for a while but I was buying the products myself.   If you join these sites, you may get picked to test some new products, depending on where you stand – usually like age, area, etc etc.

SheSpeaks is a community for women where you can read blogs, share reviews, read opinions and be chosen for free product testing.  It’s quite nifty.

I mentioned Shespeaks a few posts ago about these websites who promote word of mouth marketing.  Clickety.

Since joining this past summer, I’ve been offered 2 products for testing.  The first was Clear Shampoo and Conditioner but it took a while to arrive due to shipping complications.  I received the products about 2 months later after I accepted the invite to test these products after I contacted them through their main website that I still haven’t received the products.  Their customer service was very prompt and polite and shipped it out to me in a few days.

I was excited to use Clear Shampoo and Conditioner!  I’ve been seeing these commercials over and over since I was catching up on shows on Hulu Plus – which isn’t commercial free.  You’re forced to watch 1-2 commercials when they have commercial breaks.  It’s not pure torture but it sucks that I can’t fast forward through them.  But after viewing these commercials, I wanted to try these products!  (Their partnership with Hulu Plus worked – I NEEDED to try these products LOL)  So imagine my excitement when SheSpeaks offered me to product test these items. 🙂

When I finally received my box, I ripped the box open and went to wash my hair.  Please note no pictures were taken of my box because I literally ran off with the products to go wash my hair.  Seriously.

What my hair has been looking like for the past 6 months and still does. 😦

By the way, it’s almost 9 months AFTER I gave birth to BB and I’m still dealing with post-pregnancy hair.  I went through the hair loss about 3 months post-labor and now my hair is long as fark. (Not anyone’s fault but mine) But I’m STILL dealing with the baby hairs that stick STRAIGHT UP and I look so silly!  Nothing works for those stubborn baby hairs.  Hair wax, hair spray, gel, mousse.  Nope.  They are SO defiant.  I first realized my hair was sticking up when BB kept on staring above my eyes and I was always wondering what he was staring at.  He was/is staring at my baby hairs and how silly his mommy looks. 😦  I look so stupid and old with my salt and pepper hair.  That’s what having kids does to you – turn your hair white and grey.  I’m in serious need for a dye job and a hair cut. What’s taking so long?  I get my hair cut in Boston by a specific salon and a specific person.  LOL

Ahh, I digress.  Just had to get that out there.  Anyone dealing with post-labor ostrich hair?

So I tried the shampoo and conditioner and I love the smell.  It smells great!  I found the shampoo lathered well but I have SO MUCH hair that I need to use a large amount to get the lather that I need.  I usually use Dove Moisturizing Shampoo and a smaller amount of that lathers just right for my hair.  I have to use this insane amount of Clear Shampoo to acquire the lather I’m used to and to cover all of my hair.  It also rinses well and doesn’t feel like it leaves any build up in my hair.  I also love how it makes my hair smell so good the very next day, all day long.  I just sniffed my hair and it still smells good!

The conditioner is also great, too. It smells great and it really moisturizes my hair and leaves it really soft and shiny.  I find that I use the conditioner more often than the shampoo. It really bothers me that I need to use  A LOT to acquire the lather that I need to ensure all of my hair and scalp would be clean.  I wish they would make it more lather-able. Is that even a word?

I’m the type of person who needs to alternate products they use all the time.  I can’t use just one thing because I either get sick of it or my hair/skin/body doesn’t like it.  I crave for variety.  So I alternate using the Clear shampoo and using the Dove shampoo and I’m happy as a clam.  I doubt I’d be happy using it every day.  Nor my hair. But that’s just me!

What REALLY bothers me is the design of the bottles.  Yeah, it looks very modern and sleek but it’s not well balanced. They topple over every day in my bathroom.  You will always hear two loud bangs and me cursing because it landed on top of my head or my toes.  Me not happy. 😡   Overall, I really like the two products and I would probably buy the conditioner more than the shampoo in the future.

The second product I tested from SheSpeaks is the Enfagrow Older Toddler Ready to Drink Milk.  They marketed this to picky toddler eaters because the milk has the nutrition the toddlers need if they aren’t eating all too healthy.  They come in two flavors – Regular and in Vanilla; and they also come in powder form, if that’s preferred.

CB is a picky picky eater.  If he likes the food, he’ll gobble it up.  If he doesn’t, he’ll hold it in his mouth and let his saliva disintegrate his food into nothing and THEN he’ll swallow it.  Gross, isn’t it?  He won’t spit it out if he doesn’t like it and if we pry it out, he screams bloody murder when we do.  It’s a lose-lose situation and it’s always a puzzle trying to figure out what he will eat.  Even if he liked one type of food one day because he gobbled it down, there are times when I serve it again and then he’ll just hold the food in his mouth.  Gross.

CB is totally skinny. He’s got skinny legs and arms and is so skinny.  BB is way chubbier than him.  BB is ready to eat the food we eat. He always looks so sad when he sees our food and then looks at his food (oatmeal cereal mixed with fruit and veggie puree).  He snarfs it down anyway.  I can totally picture in the near future CB refusing to eat his food and BB totally grabbing it and stuffing it in his mouth.  TOTALLY.

I actually remembered to take pictures of the contents in my box this time.  Actually I got this shipment BEFORE I got the Clear products.  Ha ha.

Enfagrow Older Toddler drinks contain:

  • DHA and iron—two building blocks of a toddler’s brain
  • 19 nutrients to help support growth
  • Natural Defense® Dual Prebiotics® Blend—designed to help support your toddler’s immune system

Their packaging resembles the Horizon Organic Milk cartons that come in Vanilla or Chocolate. CB drinks those a lot and loves it.  I used to drink those when I was pregnant.  They are quite yummy!  I served these at CB’s birthday party one time with other kiddie drinks and juice boxes and all these kids were crying for their own vanilla milk!  Like crying and whining!  The power of Horizon Vanilla milk.  Hee hee.  Good thing I had plenty to go around.

So one weekend, I gave CB an Enfagrow milk.  He seemed happy to try it because it’s almost identical to the Horizon milk. He took one sip…and never touched it again after that.  I figured it was just that one time so I served it again but he knows what it looks like and it’s NOT his favorite vanilla milk and it goes untouched.  I served it another time and he tried to force it down Meanie’s throat.  3 times.  I know Meanie or my mom has tried giving it to him.  Always untouched.  It’s obvious he doesn’t like it.  I tried it for myself to see what it tastes like.  There’s a faint vanilla taste but it’s not as flavorful as the Horizon milks.  And it doesn’t taste like organic milk.  You know, yummier than regular non-organic milk.  But I don’t taste anything bad or vitamin-y or anything like that. For some reason, my child avoids this like the plague.

I have a bunch of coupons for this.  Anyone interested?  Please don’t base your decision on my child.  He is SUPER picky and I’m not surprised he doesn’t like it.  I read other reviews on this product and other peoples’ kids love the milk.  It’s good for you and tastes great.  But if your kid has had a taste of the Horizon organic milks, there’s a huge chance your kid won’t like these either.  Just sayin’.

[Disclaimer:  Please note that I received both products complimentary for testing purposes from SheSpeaks.  This is my honest opinion.]

BzzAgent Review – Glade Expressions Collection

[Note:  I am a member of BzzAgent and received a BzzKit containing coupons for discount and for free items.  This review is written by me and was not compensated in any way to give my honest opinion.]

I was excited to be invited to the Glade Expressions Collection campaign for BzzAgent.  If none of you are familiar with BzzAgent, BzzAgent is a word-of-mouth community where you join campaigns for different products or services, depending if you qualify to be part of the target group.  I was mailed a BzzKit from BzzAgent containing information about the Glade Expressions Collection along with a book of coupons to share and coupons for myself so I could try out these products for free.  I did some research about this collection and was very interested in the Pineapple & Mangosteen scent but unfortunately, my local grocery didn’t carry this one.

So I got the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice Fragrance Mist and the Oil Diffuser starter kit in Lavender & Juniper Berry.  I mostly picked out this scent because of the color.  I love purple!

The description for the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice scent is described as:

Enliven your senses with a spicy concoction of sweet pears, crisp apples and a dash of cinnamon and clove. Transform your home with fragrance.”

Lavender and Juniper Berry is described as:

Relax your senses with the fresh fragrance of lush lavender and juniper berry, eucalyptus and rose. This fragrance will lift your spirits and create a tranquil oasis in every home.”

I placed the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice spray in my main bathroom on the second floor and put the Lavender & Juniper Berry Oil Diffuser in my bathroom downstairs, where the foyer and front door are.  It’s a very welcoming scent when you come into the house!  The Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice scent is very festive. It smells just like Christmas and I love it! This is the perfect time of the year to make my home smelling like this.  We absolutely love it.  I’ve seen Meanie spraying it here and there because he loves the scent so much, too.

I totally love how the Fragrance Spray is refillable so I don’t have to throw out the whole spray but just get a replacement scent.  The Oil Diffuser is very cute and very easy to put together.  I love these products so much that I want to go back to the store and get every other scent and put one in every room!  But that’s overkill.  I am still using the ones I got so they are long lasting.  They do say you need to replace the Oil Diffuser every 30 days (about a month) but I haven’t noticed a decline in the scents.

What’s also great is that it’s NOT overpowering!  That was my biggest fear, especially since I have two young children in the house.  My mother is over on the weekdays to take care of BB and she has a very sensitive nose and cannot handle most air fresheners.  She did not complain about these scents, much to my surprise!  🙂

This whole collection is great and I praise them a lot. I’ve only tried 2 scents out of the 4 total and I’m pretty happy with the two I got.  I have read reviews of the Pineapple & Mangosteen scent and some people have complained that it’s too sweet and overpowering so maybe I chose correctly.  I really love the colors they use – they’re really attractive and look very nice in the house.

Let me know if any of you are interested in some coupons! 🙂

BzzAgent Review: Unreal Candy

[I am a BzzAgent (a word-of-mouth program) and was sent coupons to try out this product.  My reviews are my own and was not compensated in any way to state my own opinion.]

Unreal Candy was so hard to find!  I signed up for this campaign around the beginning of summer. My BzzKit was relatively small, compared to the other BzzKits.  I was sent a few coupons – one for myself to try one of the products for free and a few others to pass out to friends (buy 1, get 1 free). [PM me if you’re interested!]  I kept on looking at my local grocery for these chocolates but they never carried it. It finally dawned on me last week to check out the BzzAgent website on where I can find these products and the only stores on the list that were accessible to me were Staple’s and CVS.  I hit Staple’s last week only to come up empty handed but I struck gold when I went to a nearby CVS.  I finally found it!

At first I could only find these huge bags of the candy at $4.99 each – way too much for my coupons to take effect.  [And by the way, I had no idea that CVS takes manufacturer’s coupons! Learn something new every day, huh?] I finally staked out the counter and spotted the single-serving bags.  Phew!

I got the candy covered chocolates (like M&Ms), the peanut candy covered chocolates (like peanut M&Ms) and peanut butter cups (like Reeses).  I busted out the M&M like candy and put them in a bowl:

I’m not too fond of the colors.  I understand they want to look different from other types of chocolates but these colors are kinda unattractive to me.  For example, if I saw these out in a candy bowl, I don’t think I would have ventured out of curiosity to see what these were. They just don’t look attractive enough for me to eat.  Am I weird for thinking that?

Anyhoo, on to the more important part – the taste.  I thought they were good.  I preferred the non-peanut one.  They taste “healthier” than M&M’s but they were still good, in my opinion. The peanut ones were good, too, but I could slightly detect a very faint bitter taste from it.  I’m not sure if it’s from the peanuts or what but only people with highly sensitive senses of smell and taste could probably detect it.

I sat this bowl in front of Meanie who happily snarfed it down.  In fact, he had picked out all the peanut ones and left me the regular ones (he obviously doesn’t have a highly sensitive sense of smell/taste, lol).  I would say this is a good option for healthier candy.

I didn’t really eat the peanut butter cup but Meanie ate one.  He seemed okay with it. It’s not Reeses but it’s enough to satisfy your craving for a peanut butter cup. I had a little nibble and it was less sweet, less fatty tasting – you could tell it was healthier because it didn’t have that rich and creamy taste Reeses has but it was still good.  I would definitely get this if I just wanted to satisfy a candy craving and didn’t want to pack on the pounds.

Meanie was surprised that it was “healthier” candy – meaning less sugar, less fat, no HFCS, etc etc.  And it’s a good option for people who have high blood sugar, etc.  I would also feel a little better feeding this to my toddler who seems to have inherited Meanie’s love of chocolate. I would most likely purchase this in my near future.  I also want to try the other varieties – there’s a milky way like bar and some other peanut butter caramel nougat bar.  Yum!

I would recommend this to people who are watching their weight, are diabetic/have high blood sugar, more interested in eating healthier or to people with children.  Anyone interested in coupons?  Let me know! 🙂
