Citrus Lane – January 2013

Weird.  I thought I cancelled this subscription?  I checked my credit card to see if I was charged but nope, I wasn’t.  Did someone send me this as a gift?  It doesn’t say anywhere on my account at Citrus Lane.  I also never received the blue brag book that was supposed to be sent to me. I had received a pink one instead.  Is this to make up for it?  Whatever, I am happy and really surprised to see this arrive at my door a couple weeks ago!  I was mighty unhappy with the December 2012 box but the January box totally made up for my disappointment.  I love love this box!

They changed some things about the box.  Here we go!

Yay, nice to see you again, Citrus Lane!

When I first opened the box.  The packing list is on a folded sheet of paper now, not cardboard-type paper anymore.

Packing list!

25% off coupon at Skip Hop with a $30 purchase.
Have I told you how much I love Skip Hop?
Love love love!

Underneath all that yellow tissue paper.
Skip Hop!  *swoons*!  Just that alone has made up the unhappiness from the December box.

Another book – Bear About Town. ($6.99)
Both of my kids would love this book!

Episencial.  I love these products.  This came with a full sized tube of Soothing Cream and a sample of the Playful Wash.
I received a full size of Soothing Cream from Bluum last year and I still have it. It lasts for a long time and it really does soothe on itchy patches.
I’ve used it for myself, too!  A full sized tube of Soothing Cream is about $11.00.

A Skip Hop Elephant Insulated Lunch Bag! Yay! ($14.00)
CB received a Giraffe one over Xmas and I can give this one to BB when he goes off to school one day.

Ella’s Milk & Vanilla baby cookies.($4.21)

This is great! I’ve been wanting to give BB some cookies.
I got him some Mum-mums from Amazon and he loves them but the only downside is that it’s made in China!!
The Hot Kid website says that it tests all the Mum mums products so it’s all safe to give to your kids but I can’t help but feel suspicious about that.
Of course they’ll say that – but how much of it is true?

This is a great alternative to the Mum mums.
I’ve tried giving BB this but he doesn’t like the texture so much and it kinda dribbles out of his mouth on the side.
It’s a bit messy and it doesn’t have the certain crunch rice crackers have – which he loves so much.  Gah.

Clean Well Disinfectant Spray – I had gotten this from a prior Citrus Lane box.
I haven’t tried it yet though.  Have to soon! ($3.99)

Here’s the whole box! If you add all the prices that I’ve found, it comes out to about $40 for the whole box.

Not too shabby!

Love it! I hope I get another one mysteriously.  🙂

If you’re interested in joining Citrus Lane, please use my invitation code HERE.  I love Citrus Lane. I think it’s the best subscription box out there for kids!  If you click on that link and create your own subscription, you will receive $10 off their order and I’ll get a $10 credit!  So it’s a win win situation. 🙂

Citrus Lane Review – December 2012

photo (3)

Yep, you saw that right, Citrus Lane!  I did cancel my subscription from earlier this year but I had a $10 credit waiting for me in my account so I used it for the December box.  🙂  I was excited to come back to Citrus Lane and I expected to be wow’ed by the December box but I’m not so wow’ed. 😦  Boohoo.

For those who are new to my blog, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box service that delivers boxes catered to your child’s age.  Citrus Lane calls their boxes “care packages for parents”.  Toys, baby food, feeding accessories are items that are usually included in the boxes.  I had a 3-month subscription earlier this year and totally loved them but I had to cancel because it was getting a little pricey.

So I jumped on this opportunity.  I don’t know if it’s just not an impressive box overall or is it just me?  What do you people think?

CL December2

This month’s theme is “a few of our favorite things”
Just from that theme itself, you would expect an awesome box, right? I sure did!

CL December3

Here’s the packing list – there are only 5 items in it. Well, 4, really and 1 coupon.

CL December4

1)  Green Toys Submarine – I was very happy to see this! I give BB baths in the bathtub and need some more bath toys.  This is great when he graduates to the bigger toddler tub.  He’s still in the infant/toddler the bathroom sink. He tends to freak out when I wash him in the adult tub, even though in his baby bathtub. 😦  This is priced at $14.99

CL December5

2)  Ecomom Offer – $15 towards anything.  This is great! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Ecomom and I’m sure I can definitely use this voucher.

3)  Pearhead Brag Book – …in Pink…??  It’s a pretty book and all and I would love to use it but it’s in pink?  I’ve got two little boys.  I emailed Citrus Lane and asked if I could get one in blue.  They promptly replied to me, apologized and said that a blue one is on the way. Yay!  Anyone interested in a pink brag book?  Let me know!  This is priced at $8.95

4)  Renee & Jeremy It’s a Big World CD – I’m not familiar with this at all but I’m sure both CB and BB would enjoy this since they love listening to music.  This has terrific reviews on Amazon and it’s priced at $12.70 on Amazon.  The website of Renee & Jeremy priced it at $10.00.  Citrus Lane priced this CD at $12.00 so I’ll go with that.

5)  Madécasse 75% Cocoa Mini Chocolate Bar – I like dark chocolate – but I find the higher the percentage is, the grosser it tastes.  I hope I like this one.  This looks really yummy but the other flavors look so much better.   Sea salt and nibs?  Arabica Coffee? Yummie!  75% dark chocolate.  I’m cringing just a little bit but I just hope it’s not as bitter as I expect it to be.  This bar costs $1.50

This box costs $52.44 total counting the Ecomom coupon.  That’s not too shabby at all compared to the $15 I paid for the box this month with my $10 credit!  But this box didn’t wow me as much as the other ones.   I’m just a wee bit disappointed but I’m kinda glad I stopped this subscription. I just wish the December box was a little more impressive than this one.  😦

I got my Winter Favorites Cravebox yesterday!  I’m going to review it soon. I also have a Holiday Voxbox from Influenster on the way.  Yay! My first official Voxbox! 🙂

BzzAgent Review – Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade

Omigoodness.  I am so freaking full and food coma is slowly coming to take up residence.  How will I stay up especially since I’m at work?  My firm had its annual Thanksgiving luncheon today and I am stuffed!  Zzzzzz…..

I know, I should drink coffee!  Speaking of coffee, I need to review the Green Mountain Coffee Bzzcampaign from BzzAgent! 🙂  [Yeah, you knew that was coming, huh? =P]  All this turkey day food has made me into a crazy and raving lunatic.. Gah.

I jumped on the Green Mountain Coffee BzzCampaign a few weeks ago via BzzAgent.  BzzAgent is a word-of-mouth marketing program where BzzAgents (you can sign up for free!) join campaigns for products or services and just spread the word about it to everyone.

I am very familiar with Green Mountain coffee since my firm has a Keurig brewer on each floor and I drink Green Mountain coffee at work.  I don’t own a Keurig brewer at home and for some reason, I thought the BzzKit would contain either ground coffee bags or coffee beans, not K-cups. Doh!  What I was really hoping was winning a chance to host the Keurig House Party and get a Keurig brewer of my own but I was not so lucky. 😦

Here are some pics of my BzzKit!

Box opening

I got a bunch of coupons that I could share with people, a BzzGuide informing me about the Fair Trade Coffee and 3 little kits of K-cups.  Totally cute!

These square boxes contain 4 flavors –
Sumatran Reserve (Extra Bold)
Wild Mountain Blueberry
Colombian Fair Trade Select
Vermont Country Blend

The only one I haven’t tried was the Sumatran Reserve.  Good thing I have a Keurig brewer at work and so that’s how I was able to try these K-cups out.  Sumatran Reserve was definitely a really bold tasting coffee. I really liked it!

I regularly drink the Colombian Fair Trade Select at work (4 oz of that and 4 oz of Hazelnut Green Mountain coffee, yum!) and Vermont Country Blend.

Every month, we have a new and different flavor to try.  I have tried the Wild Mountain Blueberry flavor. Actually when I first saw that it was available, I was a little scared. Blueberry coffee?  That’s weird.  However, I do like blueberries so I tried it and I love it! That is my favorite flavor!! It’s so good!

Closer look at the K-cups.

The BzzGuide also had more information regarding Fair Trade.  Not only the coffee is awesome, organic and tastes great, the farmers also benefit from being Fair Trade:

  • Helps farmers get a fair price for their beans
  • Improves working conditions
  • Assists in protecting the environment
  • Supports community development with projects resulting in new schools, roads, health clinics and safer drinking water

Two musicians, Grace Potter and Michael Franti, joined Green Mountain Coffee in a campaign to raise awareness to Fair Trade and celebrate Fair Trade Month in October. Their campaign is named “Great Coffee, Good Vibes, Pass it On”. Please go to Green Mountain Coffee’s Facebook page so you can see exclusive videos of their travels to Colombia and Sumatra where they met the farmers and their families.

There are plenty of other flavors available, too. Currently, the flavor of the month here is Pumpkin Spice. I swear, everyone goes nuts for this flavor. If you like the pumpkin flavor, you’ll love this. It’s so good, I think people hoard the K-cups for later on.  I know someone who will actually ask the pantry for the leftover Pumpkin Spice K-cups! LOL

I was also peering through the Green Mountain website and they have a huge variety of K-cups for coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc.  I wish I had a Keurig brewer!  It’s so cool and convenient!

So there you have it.  I’ve always did like Green Mountain Coffee. I’ve learned more information regarding Fair Trade and how beneficial it is to farmers and everyone.  So go out and get your Fair Trade coffee!

[I received free samples and coupons from BzzAgent to review and give my opinion. I was not compensated in anyway to provide my honest opinion.]

Influenster – Palmolive® Fresh Infusions™ Review

This review is long overdue. Sorry!

What’s a VoxBox?

It’s a reward you might get for being a great Influenster. Too vague? OK fine, it’s a box filled to the brim with the hottest products that interest you. Paying attention now?

Here’s how it works: Influensters are selected for FREE themed product shipments based on the Expert Badges they have unlocked and based on individual demographics. This ensures members receive products that match their interests.

Members with high scores — within the specific badge we are targeting at the time — are prioritized, which is all the more reason to get your Influenster and Expert Badge scores high.

I received my first Influenster box a couple weeks ago. It’s not an official Voxbox (please see above to see what a VoxBox is) where there are several different items that I can try out but a new product from Palmolive.  Influenster is one of those sites where you can try out new products for free, as long as you spread the word about it.  Signing up is free and you need to earn badges. The more you earn, the more boxes you’ll get!  Click here to learn more about Influenster. I’ve actually posted up a blog about the newly vamped Influenster website in the past.  Click here to view it.

We have a dishwasher but we only use it when we have a lot of guests over.  We prefer to wash our dishes and we do have a dish rack. We loyally use the regular green colored Palmolive for our dishes.  Sometimes we will stray and get some Dawn (like when it’s on sale at Costco) but we mainly use Palmolive.  It cleans well and it’s not harsh on our hands.  I know people use rubber globes to protect their hands from drying out while doing the dishes but I hate rubber gloves.  I hate how I can’t feel anything and the dishes always fall out of my hands when I’m wearing gloves – which result in broken dishes and glasses in my porcelain sink. Yep, you saw right.  Porcelain sink.  IT TOTALLY BLOWS.  DO NOT GET A PORCELAIN SINK.  My parents had the kitchen re-done a few years ago and the stupid people actually recommended a porcelain sink.  God knows for what ridiculous reason but what we didn’t foresee was that dishes and glasses (especially!) will break easily in a freaking porcelain sink.  Bad mistake!!!  Always go with a stainless steel sink!  It doesn’t look as nice as a porcelain sink but at least it doesn’t break/chip all your nice china and wine glasses!  Grrr!

*End rant on porcelain sink* 😦

So I qualified for the new Palmolive product. I had to take a survey and shortly after, I found out I qualified and that they were going to send me a box. It took a while but I finally received it:

Card that came with the box –

Palmolive Fresh Infusions!
I think this is a fairly new products since I can’t find a specific website for this product.
It is readily available at Target and Walmart, though!

I received 3 full-sized bottles in 3 different scents:

– Ginger White Tea
– Lemon Thyme
-Lime Basil

I kept the Ginger White Tea scent because I love that scent. I know that Dial soft soap has that scent that smells divine. Bath & Body Works also has that scent and I absolutely love it.  I gave the other two bottles to my mother and my sister because they told me to share and share, I did! 🙂

I like how the bottles look.  They look very updated and trendy.
I also received $1.50 coupons for the product.
[Please disregard the jade elephant – he did not come with my package – I needed something to stop the bottles from rolling around so I could take a picture, lol]

A closer look at the bottles. Looks nice, right?

I think they all smell great although Ginger White Tea is definitely my favorite.  We’ve been using it every day now and I find that it lathers up well and also cleans well.  I think if you want a trendy look to your kitchen sink and are sick of the same basic dish liquid scents, you can always get this.  It’s the same trusty Palmolive product with just an updated look and yummy scents!  I love them!

Thanks to Influenster for giving me the opportunity to try this out. I’m definitely looking forward to my first official VoxBox though, whenever that will be.

[Note: I received these products from Influenster to try them out for free.  This review is entirely my own and was not compensated in any way to state my honest opinion.]

So much for blogging often.  Seems I blog like every 2 months. Hah, better than nothing!

May already. Craziness.  Time is flying way too fast and lots happening this month.  We go on vacation next week in Montreal for a week.  It’ll be nice to get away and get a change of scenery and food.  It’s always nice to go back there.  We are going solely to drive my MIL back to Montreal since she’s been staying with us for the past 3 weeks to take care of Carey while my parents are out in Taiwan.  We’re also going to celebrate all the April/May birthdays and there are a lot in my in-law family!

Carey will be starting daycare in mid-May.  My baby is a big boy now and old enough to go to daycare!  I’m both happy and sad about it.  Sad because he’s all grown up but at the same time I’m happy because he will be learning new things and interacting with kids his own age.  He’s talking a lot more these days and he babbles alot.  I’m sure he’s talking and saying words but it’s really hard to pick them out.  Lately, he’s been saying “What’s up?” as a greeting.  “What?”  His ultimate favorite word is “cow”. He calls everyone and everything a cow.  I have no idea why. He also knows what a cow is and when he sees one on TV, he will say “cow” and will point to a cow in his book.  LOL.  I just hope no one gets offended when Carey ends up calling them a cow because he probably will.  Hee hee hee.

Whenever Carey calls me a cow, I always ask him where’s the cow?  Does Mommy moo?  MOoo? And he’ll say “Wherezit?”  Hehehe.  Last week, he was talking in his sleep and I guess it was a bad dream because he was whimpering and I heard “I..don’t..wanna..DO IT!!”  *sobs*  😦  But he was ok the next morning.  I just love that he is talking more!

These past 3 weeks I’ve been spoiled on the weekends and been allowed to sleep in because my MIL is around.  Carey always wakes up really early in the mornings, either between 5am to 8am but he’ll come to wake me up if I”m still sleeping. He’ll say “wake up!” or climbs up on top of me as if I were really a cow and smash his face to mine.  Or he’ll just stand to the side of the bed and just stare.  It’s really cute to wake up to your almost 2 year old toddler, smiling ear to ear just at the sight of you.  I love my happy baby boy!

He does have his bad moments too.  Lately, he’s been abusing me a lot. Smacking me in the face and so on.  I usually try to leave him once he starts doing that.  He only shows me this kind of abuse.  The articles on-line say that your kids do that because they love you the most and they know they can get away with it the most from you but I’m starting to think that whoever who wrote that article is just saying that to make the victims, like me, feel better. 😦

We went for his 21 month appointment back in March and he’s still little for his age.  I forget alot that he’s a preemie so he’s about 2 months slower than his actual age.  His height and head size is good and on target but his weight is less than normal. They call him a skinny baby. He’s inherited his dad’s stick legs and he’s got a tiny booty so most of his pants slide all the way down by his 3rd step.  I ordered something called Dapper Snappers. These things are awesome and they truly work!  Now Carey can wear his jeans and khakis now, aside from the sweat pants I usually put him in, with the help of Dapper Snappers!  They’re not the most attractive accessories but it’s usually covered by Carey’s shirts.  They also have mom-sized ones, too.  Good to use when you’re preggers!

I feel like I used my son as an advertising tool.  Too bad I don’t receive sales commission from these places!  I’ve been putting Carey in shoes that squeak ever since he’s started walking. He’s a runner so he’ll dash off to anywhere and I need to keep track of him. We are against those leashes so squeaking is the only way I can keep track of him.  I follow him like a hound, too. I usually buy Squeakers or Wee Squeak shoes from  The styles are cute and they squeak! And every time we go out shopping or something, we get a ton of comments and everyone with children wants a pair.  I think I’ve sent like at least 20 different people to their websites.  Where’s my sales commission?  🙂

I love the baby sales websites.  That’s where I get the bulk of baby stuff.  Sites like:

The first two links are my favorite. I’ve also ordered from Totsy which I do not recommend at all. Totsy’s prices are always very inviting but the shipping costs make up for the rest of the cost.  Their customer service is one of the worst I’ve ever encountered before. It’s truly tragic because I was a loyal member of and they merged with  I REFUSE to buy anything from Totsy anymore because 1) they have always gotten my order incorrect, 2) always takes more than a month for something to ship out, 3) never give out refunds (I am still bothering them for my last refund and it’s been more than a month). I’ve also noted that their stuff sells quickly and then after a month, they sent out an email to you saying that they’ve been “short ordered”. Maybe more like “Oh, we didn’t realize our inventory sucked but we sold you something that we don’t have anyway” type of BS.  Beware at your own cost, literally!

On the Bzzagent front, I signed up for the Children’s Claritin campaign except that I don’t know anyone who has kids with allergies.  I hope Carey doesn’t have them but it’s too soon to say.  So I’ve got a bottle of Children’s Claritin in Grape flavor.  Is there anyone who would be interested in having it?  I’d love your opinion on it, too.  These bottles generally cost like $12 in the drug store. It’s pretty steep. I also have coupons if anyone is interested in it, too. Let me know!

Catch you later!
